As I already mentioned I have a huge interest in Dance, particularly ballet. I prefer modern ballet than the classical style. I was considering trying out for some of the ballet companies like Ballet Ireland, however I knew just how physically demanding it would have been. In order to make it, it requires you to do hours of training a day. As well as that you would suffer with the pain of your toes from being on pointe shoes for that length of time. I was sure if I was going to be able to commit to that, not really having a social life, no time for family and friers or other interests you might have. I wasn't sure if I would last physically either. I don't think people realize how hard it is to be a dancer. I don't think we realize the hours of training they do and the physical pain they go through. I think the fact they make it look so graceful, elegant, easy and natural we don't realize the reality. However that is the job of a dancer, to express this elegance and the look of naturalism even when feeling something different. It is also very emotionally demanding because every dancer wants to be a prima ballerina, however this title is only given to the elite dancers. There for the competitiveness of this world is very emotionally and physically demanding. The movie "Black Swan" is said to bring some of these issues to light. However I never got the opportunity to watch it myself yet it is said to be quite a psychological thriller.
Here are two photographs I love;
This is one of my favourite dance videos;
Here are two documentaries on ballerinas which might give you an insight into their lives.
